Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Guests frequently rave about the delicious and hearty Sunday roast, served with generous portions. The homemade dishes, particularly the steak and ale pie, leave a lasting impression for being rich in flavor and expertly crafted, showcasing a commitment to quality.

The live music and themed nights inject vibrancy into the atmosphere, creating an enjoyable backdrop for dining and socializing. The attentive service and friendly staff contribute significantly to a welcoming experience that makes everyone feel at home. The dog-friendly policy is a major hit, allowing furry companions to join in on the fun.

Most Disliked

A few visitors have noted that consistency is key; there have been occasional complaints about certain dishes arriving cold, necessitating reheating. While service is generally praised, peak times can sometimes lead to delays during busy hours, especially on weekends.

Some patrons find the menu extensive but feel that certain offerings could benefit from regular updates to keep up with seasonal ingredients. The children's menu, while adequate, could use a few more healthy options to support parents seeking nutritious choices for their kids.

Had our Sunday lunch here. I had chicken and my husband had the pork. Was very tasty and plenty of it. Unfortunately the coliflower cheese came in a bowl but was cold, so had to be reheated then it was fine.

We turned up hoping for food after 8pm. Staff were very welcoming. Food was excellent. I had the home made steak and ale pie, the gravy was thick and rich and the pasty melt in the mouth. Mrs had a steak which was well cooked and the accompaniments were lovely too. Home made trifle for afters was great too. Highly recommended.

Having moved to the area four weeks ago we are trying local eateries. This is the first time I’ve read a pub menu and knew exactly what I wanted. Steak and kidney pudding. Apart from the fact it was delicious tasting food, my pudding was bursting with kidney and steak; I haven’t experienced that for years. The mashed potato was exactly as it should be indicating it’s made with real potatoes. The vegetables, carrots, parsnips and green beans were cooked just right. Then I had trifle. Lovely. I understand they have a new chef. Hang onto him folks. Thank you to The Red Lion Staff for a great evening.

As we’re very new to the area we’re trying out the local pubs/cafes/restaurants. Had a lovely home cooked dinner at the Red Lion Pub. Michele the chef was lovely, very friendly, as was her daughter, our waitress. We will definitely be returning. A very good choice of menu too. Try it if you’ve not been-you won’t be disappointed.

A beautiful meal that we can’t fault. Lovely ambience and environment, excellent service and top rate meal. Great choices on the menu and a delicious meal from start to finish. All four of us had something different, Sirloin and Fillet steaks were cooked to perfection and there isn’t a thing we would change about the meal. Definitely recommend if you want friendly, welcoming service and a delicious meal cooked to an extremely high standard!! Thank you a lovely evening, we will be back!

Excellent experience - food was great (fillet steak, followed by lemon cheesecake), service was fantastic. The chef came out before we'd ordered and gave us canapés on the house, which were delicious! We will definitely be returning
